To think the U/19, U/21 and the senior Cheetah teams in the finals in Pretoria on the 31 October 2009. If there is a will there is a way!!
An image of myself taking photos at the semi Final on 17 October in Durban during the semi Final between the Cheetahs and the Sharks. I’m busy taking photos of the Cheetahs celebrating their 23-21 win with my Nikon D3 and 10.5mm F2.8 fisheye lens.
Photo taking by photographer Howard Cleland.

16-17 October 2009 Durban hosted the South African leg of the Fina World cup short course swimming champs. Therese Alshammar of Sweden was the big star with two world records to her name in the 100m IM and the 50m Fly events.
I went to the event with the attitude to really try and took as many shots that isn’t the normal straight forward action shots and really got away with some amazing images. These image can be viewed on www.supermedia.co.za
Here an image of Jessica Pengelly, South African swimmer. i used a shutter speed of 1/40 sec to get the result.
A documentary image of photographers Anesh Debiky, Christiaan Kotze and Steve Haag. I don’t know what the difference is between normal images and documentary images but know when i see it. Maybe it is the story telling effect .
Sometimes even something getting in the way can produce some interesting photos.
Here the TV camera Crew in action at 1/30 sec.

Sometimes life is just better in Black and White and that also apply to Sport images. If you get bored with your images in color it’s always worth trying some black and white images.
Open your image in Photoshop. Press Shift – Alt – Control – B and the Black and White page will open. Set your contrast to your liking and press okay. That’s it, as simple and easy as that.
Here two images of the game between the Cheetahs and the Leopards on friday 2 October in Bloemfontein South Africa.
JW Jonker on the run.
Nico Breedt over for a try.

The past week i had the priviledge to cover five of the ICC Champions Trophy games in Gauteng South Africa. The images can be viewed on www.supermedia.co.za It was great to sit next to all the big names in the Sports Photography world and chat to them about angles and watch their workflow they using on their laptops. On Monday 5 October i’m going to cover the Final and looking forward to it. The Final will be at Centurion Pretoria which lend it more to nice images than at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.
I got this nice image of the Wanderers Cricket Ground on Tuesday 29 September 2009 when England played New Zealand. I used a Nikon D3 and a Nikon 10,5mm F2.8 lens.
