Gerhard started taking action photos in 1984 and since then his work has been widely published in all the major magazines and newspapers in South Africa.
Over 30 of these photos have been used as front covers on these magazines. Recently Gerhard got a lot of his work published abroad specially in the UK and also in Australia and New Zealand.
At the moment Gerhard specializes in swimming, soccer and rugby but also got interests in other sports seen that he has studied physical training in the early eighties. This knowledge of various sports has come to his benefit many times over the years.
At the moment he is using Nikon D3 cameras and Nikon lenses that vary from a 10.5mm up to a 400mm f2.8 lens. Favorite lenses used by Gerhard at the moment are his 200mm F2, 300mm F2.8 and 400mm F2.8 VR Nikon Lenses.
